New York City: Day 1

A week ago, my parents and I woke up dark and early at 4 a.m. to make the 10 hour trip down to New York City!

Armed with a good book and good music, I survived the long journey to the city.

Currently in the process of finishing this book, pretty good so far!
(Mint headphones from PINK)

Some people may call us crazy for doing this but after the 10 hour trip, we didn't go straight to our hotel, no, we went straight to shopping in one of New York's best shopping areas, Soho. We couldn't check in until 4 pm anyway and we got into the city around 3.

Here's my purchases on the first day:

Sweaters, both from Brandy Melville. I've been lusting after that Union Jack one forever!

Stila In the Light Eyeshadow Palette
(Sorry I can't figure out how to rotate it.... )
After shopping, my parents and I walked about 5 minutes to a ramen restaurant we heard was really good. Last time I was in New York, we tried to come but the line was over an hour long. We went super early this time since we were hungry from the road trip.

Super cool decor inside!
Deep fried chicken wings with black pepper sauce. Yum!
BBQ eel wrapped in cucumber (my favourite)

After a very long day, we drove what was supposed to be a 6 minute drive from Soho to our hotel on 39th and 6th in the Garment District, took us almost 20 minutes! That crazy New York City traffic is very real.

Our hotel is the blue dot and Times Square the red one lol.

Finally all checked in and settled in, I opened the window to see this beautiful view of the city that never sleeps.

A tiring day, but well worth it!

Packing for NYC!

So this afternoon turned out to be quite stressful for me. This morning, my friends and I woke up (from a sleepover!) around 10:30 and we chatted a bit and went to make brunch. After they all left by 1:30 I set off onto my next mission, packing. Since I'm off school this week for March Break, tomorrow at 4 a.m. my parents and I are going to drive 10, hopefully short, hours to New York City. I've been putting packing off for a while and have been really lazy.

Once I got my ass off my bed, I opened my closet and was greeted by this mess.

Yes, that is a One Direction poster on the door.
Usually I love packing. I would start packing two weeks before because it gives me some motivation to get through the next few weeks until I'm on vacation. But for some reason this time I just wasn't up for it. I'm a very indecisive person so the past 4 hours have been beyond stressful. I finally decided on these things to bring to my little trip to the Big Apple.

A soft and comfy stripe-y shirt from Brandy Melville for the car ride there and a pair of black leggings to go with it.

Jeans, of course.

One of my favourite t-shirts by Talula

A maroon t-shirt from Topshop with a little pocket. I love this top because the body of it is a shiny material and the sleeves and pockets are regular fabric. You can sorta see it in the photo.

A baggy oversized cream cardigan from Brandy Melville, perfect for the chilly New York weather!

Blue/Denim shirt from Quicksilver great for layering and wearing alone.

Batman + Flannel= Coolest Pajamas Ever.

For shoes I've decided to bring my Steve Madden Combat Boots and Mel & Kate Black Suede Wedge Booties :)

Finally, my makeup! Just the basics: foundation, concealer, mascara, eyeliner, primer and blush. I'm giving my brushes a quick wash before I leave but they'll join my makeup in there tomorrow :)

How fitting, wearing my I <3 NY shirt while packing for NY lol

I'm super excited for New York now, I cannot wait to shop and eat and experience city life again! New York City never gets old :)

Raptors vs. Pacers

While the rest of our friends were dancing the night away at our school's semi formal, my friend Alyssa and I decided to opt out this year. Instead of spending money on banquet hall food, a new dress, heels and all the effort and drama that comes with it, we went to a basketball game where we could scream and cheer without a care in the world.

We went to go support our hometown's Toronto Raptors play the Indiana Pacers.

Pretty good seats!

Me and Alyssa :) We were all comfy in jeans and plaid and jerseys while our friends were nursing blisters from heels haha

Introducing the Raptors! I did get out of my seat and scream when they came out of the tunnel. Love the atmosphere at games!

And the game starts!

All in all, a very fun night with one of my best friends, unfortunately the Raptors lost to the Pacers 81-93. They aren't doing so well, third loss in a row.... They've just been out of it recently. Gotta pick it up if we're gonna make a final push for the playoffs boys!
