Miley 3.0

Miley Cyrus has gone through quite the transition in the past few years. Starting with her sweet southern girl look on Disney, to the awkward growing-up-and-people-judging-her phase with her leather outfits and crop tops and her fair share of controversies. Now she's the cool hipster/glam/street styled girl with her blonde boy-ish hair cut.
During this time her music has changed quite a bit too and she's releasing her new album soon and on June 3rd, she released her single "We Can't Stop" and I'm absolutely obsessed. It's been on repeat ever since it came out. The perfect party song, I think it might become the 'summer song' this year!

Crush: High-Waisted Denim Shorts

I'm sure you've all noticed that high-waisted pants/shorts are very popular now, especially denim shorts. What I love about them is that they're so versatile and they can make your waist look teeny-tiny and your legs a mile long. You'd think since they're so on trend now they would be everywhere, but no, I can't find them. And if I do, they're usually a cheap, stretchy material or were studded, ripped, paint-splattered. It is so hard to find a nice, good-quality, classic pair of high-waisted denim shorts?
That's what I thought.
Until now.

Janine showed me these shorts and my, oh, my, am I in love. We're both obsessing over these.

Photos taken from the American Apparel website
Now I gotta save up to buy, no invest, in these bad boys!

Polyvore!

I know I'm terribly behind on Polyvore. I always thought it was kinda cool but kinda pointless.... but I have had a complete change of heart about it, I love it! It's super easy to use and has such cool features, for example, every photo you use, it tells you where to buy it from! There's also a lot of creative/artistic freedom, you can customize templates, or just start on a blank page, there's a bunch of fun fonts and the search tool is very, very useful. It finds exactly what you want. It's also kinda like a community too, people follow you and 'like' your stuff. Most people use it for fashion but I've seen some really sick design and street art collages.

I originally decided to finally join the Polyvore community for a school project. I'm using it to create collages about prominent fashion decades, leading up into the present and the evolution of fashion. Pretty cool, eh? If you want you can check out my polyvore, my polyvore account, my profile on polyvore(?)

I'll be adding a bunch more collages/sets/pictures soon!

(Is Polyvore starting to sound weird to you too?)

The Royal Ontario Museum

During the week I went to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. It is supposedly one of the best I've heard and it definitely met my expectations, it was huge and like a maze. I had to ask the same security guard where the main stairs were one to many times. It was loads of fun, especially since I'm such a history nerd. I took a few photos of my favourite exhibits (like the Haute Couture section.... *sigh*) check it out!
(I'm sorry the photos aren't the greatest I had to use my phone because it was hard to lug around my big camera)

OOTD: Shades of Spring

Often when I go shopping I tend to buy darker coloured things. The number of black, grey and navy clothes I have is not normal.... I honestly don't know why I just like them better. I've been trying to buy more colourful stuff especially for spring and summer but once in a while I gotta pull out the darker colours, even in the springtime!

I wore a leopard black & white dress from H&M, a cream/grey cardigan from Forever 21 and black sandals from Nine West.

A Taste of Summer in the City

Today was another gorgeous day, we have been so lucky with the weather! So Janine and I decided to be such rebels and go downtown shopping instead of going to school. (Just kidding we had the day off, we're angels.) We took the turtle-paced hunk of metal Toronto calls the subway to the heart of the city where some of the best shopping in Canada is.

I wore this 'Mondaze' (because its Monday, get it?)  t-shirt from Club Monaco with jean shorts, orange boat shoes, aviators and my yellow Rebecca Minkoff cross-body.

So I didn't buy tooooo much today but I'm still very happy with my purchases :)

Needed more graphic tanks....
Los Angeles Top from Brandy Melville
I've been obsessing over this dress forever, I couldn't stop thinking about it and finally caved! Really liking the cutout trend.
Gray Bethan Dress from Brandy Melville (Front)
Gray Bethan Dress (Back)
Mother's Day gift for mom, but I may occasionally 'borrow' it.
Hey, you can't blame me, look at it, it's beautiful!
Blue scarf from Zara
I am a lipstick junkie. Well really any lip product other than lip gloss (can't stand the stickiness). And this season everyone has been raving about coral lipstick and it took me forever to find this! I'm obsessed!
FACE Stockholm for J. Crew
Perfect name for it!
How pretty?!
I've checked out FACE Stockholm and it seems pretty nice. There aren't any stores or boutiques that sell it in Canada though :( But if you live in USA or the UK you should check it out! I'm sure if you live in Sweden you've heard of this brand... haha

Hope you all had a great day enjoying the weather or if the weather is kinda crappy where you live, hope you enjoyed your time inside!
xoxo.

OOTD: Completely Wrong For Today

Today was a bright, sunny, 22˚C day in Toronto and I decided to wear black boots and a black blazer. That's the first reason why this outfit was completely wrong for today. The second was that I was quite overdressed for school. I got frequent "Why are you dressed up so much?" "Why do you look so fancy?" My reply was, "Because I like it and I wanted to wear it..." The main reason why I opted for a black blazer and skinny jeans was because I wanted to wear my black suede booties and with the warm weather coming now, I realized it would be one of the last times I could until September (hopefully not!).

So here's my completely inappropriate and wrong outfit for today:

Black Blazer and Fox T-Shirt by Talula from Aritzia, Jeans/Jeggings from Uni Qlo and Black Suede Booties by Kate & Mel. (Watch from Cartier and the gold bracelet used to be my grandma's and the earrings I bought in LA last summer while on vacation from a little boutique.)

Post Workout Snackage

After a workout it's hard to decide whether or not to eat. You don't want to eat back all those calories you just burned in a bowl of chips, but nor do you want to starve yourself when you're clearly hungry after all that hard work. It's important to refuel your muscles after working out. You need the energy to continue on with your day. But eating after a workout doesn't have to be simply a banana or pear, you can still have some fun with it, get all the nutrients your body needs and the delicious flavours your taste buds want! (Plus these are quick and simple!)
Here are a few of my favourites:

Peanut Butter Sandwich with Bananas

Slather your bread with peanut butter and slice up about half a banana, depending on the size of your bread, on it and lightly drizzle with honey for some extra sweetness (optional, of course I did though).

Yogurt and Granola

Mix up your granola and yogurt if your granola isn't clustered. If it is, you can dip it in the yogurt, put a little dollop on top or eat them separately, however you want!

Chocolate Milk

If you were just lightly exercising or aren't that hungry, a nice tall glass of chocolate milk will do perfectly well!

Today I chose the Peanut Butter Sandwich with Bananas and a drizzle of honey with a little glass of chocolate milk to hit the spot! And now I'm going to go finish off this delciousness and get back to the work I've been putting off all weekend.

Hope you guys enjoyed your weekend! xoxo
